Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has sworn in two new commissioners and other key public office holders, charging them to uphold the highest standards of integrity, transparency, professionalism, and accountability in the discharge of their duties.
The swearing-in ceremony, held on Tuesday in Asaba, saw Mr. Brave Enodeh and Mr. Moses Ogodo inaugurated as Commissioners and members of the Delta State Executive Council.
The governor also inaugurated Mr. Cosmas Igbenije as a member of the Governing Board of the Delta State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (DESOPADEC), alongside Chief Joseph Ojobu, Chief James Obeuwou, and Mr. Fun-Ebi Edonyabo as members of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission.
Governor Oborevwori explained that the appointments of Enodeh and Ogodo became necessary following the resignation of two former commissioners who stepped down to contest seats in the Delta State House of Assembly.
Addressing the appointees, the governor urged them to demonstrate exemplary leadership, unwavering commitment, and a strong sense of responsibility, noting that their appointments come with the mandate to strengthen governance and accelerate development across the state.
He emphasized that beyond policy formulation, public office holders must promote transparency, accountability, and fairness in the discharge of their official responsibilities.
“Your actions should inspire public confidence and reinforce our administration’s commitment to the M.O.R.E. Agenda,” the governor stated.
Congratulating Mr. Cosmas Igbenije on his appointment to the DESOPADEC Governing Board, Governor Oborevwori urged him to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedication, discipline, and commitment to the sustainable development of oil-producing communities.
The governor recalled that the tenure of the current DESOPADEC Governing Board was recently extended by one year to ensure continuity in ongoing projects and effective delivery of the commission’s statutory responsibilities.
He noted that the board has recorded significant achievements, including the construction of roads, classroom blocks, markets, health centres, electricity infrastructure, water projects, and other community development initiatives across oil-bearing communities.
Expressing confidence in the board’s capacity to build on its successes, Oborevwori encouraged members to deepen stakeholder engagement and ensure projects continue to reflect the needs and aspirations of host communities.
Speaking to the newly inaugurated members of the Delta State Judicial Service Commission, the governor stressed that only individuals of proven integrity and unquestionable character could be entrusted with the constitutional responsibility of overseeing the appointment, promotion, discipline, and welfare of judicial officers.
He charged the commission to discharge its duties with fairness, impartiality, transparency, and the fear of God to sustain an independent, effective, and corruption-free judiciary.
Reaffirming his administration’s commitment to inclusive governance, Governor Oborevwori assured Deltans that his government would continue to strengthen collaboration with the judiciary to enhance the state’s justice system and position it as a model for others across the country.
He congratulated all the appointees and prayed for wisdom, strength, and good health to enable them to discharge their responsibilities effectively.
Responding on behalf of the appointees, Commissioner Brave Enodeh expressed gratitude to Governor Oborevwori for the confidence reposed in them and pledged their unwavering commitment to supporting the administration’s vision.
He assured the governor that the newly inaugurated officials would work diligently to advance the M.O.R.E. Agenda and contribute meaningfully to the continued growth and development of Delta State.
