The Nigeria Army and the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) have reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening inter-agency collaboration to combat crime and enhance the protection of critical national assets across Delta State.
This renewed commitment was made on Monday, July 21, 2026, when the newly redeployed Commander of the 63 Brigade, Nigerian Army, and Commander of Sector 1, Joint Task Force (JTF) South-South, Operation Delta Safe, Brig. Gen. I.B. Buhari, paid a courtesy visit to the Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC, Commandant Chinedu F. Igbo, at the State Command Headquarters.
During the visit, Brig. Gen. Buhari, accompanied by senior officers of the brigade, expressed appreciation for the warm reception and commended the NSCDC Delta Command for its consistent cooperation with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies in tackling crime and criminality across the state.
The brigade commander, who assumed office on July 20, 2026, said his priority is to make Delta State more secure through stronger collaboration among security agencies, particularly in the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure.
He stressed the need for enhanced real-time intelligence sharing, improved professional engagement, and greater accessibility between both agencies to effectively address emerging security challenges.
Brig. Gen. Buhari also praised NSCDC personnel serving in the Joint Task Force, describing them as disciplined, professional, and capable officers who have continued to distinguish themselves in joint operations.
Responding, Delta State NSCDC Commandant Chinedu F. Igbo thanked the army commander for making the corps one of his first official points of call after assuming office.
He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the existing cordial relationship with the Nigerian Army and other security agencies.
According to the commandant, effective collaboration remains essential to maintaining peace and ensuring the safety of lives and property across Delta State.
The visit concluded with both security chiefs pledging to deepen cooperation and provide mutual support whenever the need arises, reinforcing their shared resolve to deny criminals any operating space within the state.
