The Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC), Asaba Region, has sought renewed collaboration with the Delta State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) to strengthen the protection of critical power infrastructure and improve operational efficiency across the region.
The Regional Manager of BEDC Asaba Region, Mr. Jeffrey Nwainokpor, made the appeal during a courtesy visit to the Delta State Commandant of the NSCDC, Chinedu F. Igbo, at the Command Headquarters in Asaba.
Speaking during the visit, Nwainokpor described the NSCDC as a critical stakeholder in Nigeria’s power sector, noting that the Corps’ role extends beyond safeguarding electricity installations to supporting BEDC’s day-to-day operations, particularly during enforcement activities and in resolving operational challenges.
He called for enhanced synergy and collaboration between BEDC and the NSCDC to improve service delivery and ensure the protection of electricity infrastructure within the Asaba Region.
Responding, Commandant Chinedu Igbo welcomed the partnership initiative, stressing that BEDC manages infrastructure vital to the nation’s economic and social development.
He reaffirmed the NSCDC’s statutory responsibility as the lead agency for the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure, assuring BEDC of the Command’s continued support in safeguarding power installations across the region.
The Commandant also pledged improved collaboration to enhance the security of electricity facilities and ensure uninterrupted service delivery.
