As we commemorate World Teachers’ Day, I celebrate the dedicated teachers across Delta State whose daily sacrifices continue to shape the minds, character and future of our children.
Teaching is not simply a profession. It is a responsibility to society and an investment in the future. Every doctor, engineer, entrepreneur, civil servant, leader and professional was once guided by a teacher.
Yet, despite the enormous responsibility placed on them, many teachers continue to work under difficult conditions, with inadequate support and resources. We must move beyond celebrating teachers with words once a year and begin building a system that truly values their work, welfare and professional dignity.
As a state, we must invest deliberately in education by improving the learning environment, equipping schools, strengthening teacher training and ensuring that teachers are adequately motivated to give their best.
A government that is serious about the future must be serious about education. And a government that is serious about education must be serious about the people who teach.
My vision is for a Delta State where teachers are respected, students are empowered, schools are properly equipped and education becomes a genuine pathway to opportunity for every child, regardless of background.
To our teachers: your sacrifices may not always receive the recognition they deserve, but your impact lives in every life you have touched.
You are not just teaching a subject; you are helping to build the Delta State and Nigeria of tomorrow.
On this World Teachers’ Day, I say thank you for your service, your patience, your resilience and your sacrifice.
Happy World Teachers’ Day!
