NSCDC Delta Inaugurates Special Surveillance Team to Tackle Infrastructure Vandalism

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has inaugurated a dedicated Critical National Assets and Infrastructure (CNAI) Monitoring and Surveillance Team as part of renewed efforts to combat the rising cases of vandalism targeting Base Transceiver Stations (BTS) and other critical infrastructure across the state.

The inauguration, led by the Delta State Commandant, CC Chinedu Igbo Fabian, underscores the Command’s commitment to protecting facilities vital to Nigeria’s economic growth, public safety, and national security.

Speaking during the ceremony, Commandant Igbo described the protection of Critical National Assets and Infrastructure as one of the Corps’ core statutory responsibilities.

He stressed that the newly inaugurated surveillance team is expected to adopt proactive strategies to prevent vandalism, sabotage, and other criminal activities capable of disrupting essential services.

“The responsibility of safeguarding our nation’s critical infrastructure is one we cannot afford to fail. I expect every member of this team to discharge their duties with commitment, professionalism, and integrity until Delta is rid of economic saboteurs,” the Commandant stated.

He urged members of the team to remain vigilant, disciplined, and committed to intelligence gathering and rapid response, noting that the Corps would not relent in its efforts to protect public assets and bring perpetrators of infrastructure vandalism to justice.

The initiative is expected to strengthen surveillance around critical installations, improve collaboration with relevant stakeholders, and reduce the activities of vandals whose actions often disrupt telecommunications, electricity supply, and other essential public services.

The statement was signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Anthony Uchenna.
