Engr. Isaac Eshor, the African Action Congress (AAC) governorship candidate in Delta State for the 2027 election, has called on Nigerians and political leaders to embrace peace, unity, love and inclusive governance as the country marks its 66th Independence Anniversary.
Eshor made the call in his Independence Day message on October 1, urging Nigerians to use the anniversary as an opportunity to reflect on the nation’s journey since independence and the challenges confronting citizens.
He said Independence Day should go beyond celebrations, stressing the need for renewed commitment to responsible leadership and people-oriented governance.
According to him, issues such as unemployment, insecurity, hunger and limited access to quality healthcare remain significant challenges requiring collective action and responsible leadership.
“Have we achieved freedom from hunger, fear and unemployment?” Eshor asked, while highlighting the difficulties faced by many Nigerians.
Speaking on Delta State, the AAC candidate said the state has significant economic and human resources capable of driving greater development. He outlined areas including education, healthcare, infrastructure, economic empowerment, security and the Blue Economy as priorities he would pursue if given the opportunity to lead the state.
Eshor also urged Nigerians to promote patriotism and unity, saying collective efforts are necessary to overcome divisions and build a more prosperous country.
“We must use this occasion to renew our commitment to building a better Nigeria. There is a need for peace, love, unity and good governance if we are to achieve the future we desire,” he said.
His message comes as Nigeria commemorates 66 years of independence, with national leaders and public figures using the occasion to call for unity, patriotism and continued efforts toward national development.
