Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State on Youth Mobilisation, Hon. (Chief) Lucky Blessing Odiakachukwu Abuah, has commended the Executive Chairman of Oshimili North Local Government Area, Olorogun Innocent Esewezie, and the Delta State Government over efforts to provide 24-hour electricity to Ibusa and neighbouring communities.
Abuah’s commendation followed an inspection visit to the Ibusa Substation by the Delta State Commissioner for Power and Energy, Engr. Michael Ifeanyi Anoka (FNSE, Ph.D.), as part of ongoing efforts to address persistent electricity challenges in the area.
Describing the inspection as a significant step towards improving power supply, Abuah said the initiative demonstrated the commitment of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori’s administration to strengthening critical infrastructure and improving the living standards of residents across the state.
The governor’s aide praised the collaboration between the Delta State Government and the Oshimili North Local Government Council, noting that the proposed electricity initiative could provide more reliable power to communities within the Ibusa corridor.
He urged the Ministry of Power and Energy to expedite the implementation of the project, stressing that a stable electricity supply was essential for economic growth, industrial development and improved service delivery.
Abuah also applauded Olorogun Esewezie for what he described as visionary leadership and continued engagement with relevant stakeholders to attract development projects capable of improving the welfare of residents.
According to him, the inspection of the substation represents an important milestone towards achieving sustainable electricity solutions that could stimulate economic activities, encourage investment and create employment opportunities within the area.
He noted that reliable electricity would be particularly beneficial to traders, small business owners and local enterprises, many of whom depend on alternative power sources to sustain their operations.
The proposed 24-hour electricity initiative is expected to support commercial activities, improve productivity and strengthen the socio-economic development of Ibusa and neighbouring communities if successfully implemented.
Abuah expressed optimism that the collaboration between the state government and the local government council would translate into tangible benefits for residents, while reiterating the importance of timely project execution.
