NSCDC Delta Busts Alleged Power Cable Vandal Syndicate, Arrests Five Suspects in Kwale

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Delta State Command, has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing crackdown on the vandalization of critical national assets with the arrest of five suspected members of an alleged power cable vandalism syndicate in Kwale, Delta State.

The suspects were apprehended on Thursday, July 2, 2026, during a joint operation carried out by NSCDC operatives in collaboration with the Utagba Ogbe Vigilante Group.
The operation targeted individuals allegedly involved in the vandalization of electricity power line cables and other critical power infrastructure.

The arrested suspects were identified as:

Mbube Godwin Anioh, 20

Ekeanys Onyemechinyi, 19

Muhammadu Atamnu, 37

Chibuke Anah Ehiya, 20

Nworomu Ekpede, 17

According to preliminary investigations, the suspects are alleged to have participated in the vandalization, possession, purchase, and sale of stolen electricity power line cables. The Command described the activities as acts of economic sabotage that threaten public infrastructure and disrupt electricity supply.

During the operation, NSCDC personnel recovered a substantial quantity of vandalized electricity power line cables and other electrical materials believed to have been stolen from power installations. The recovered exhibits have been secured as evidence, while investigations continue to identify and apprehend other members of the syndicate, including individuals involved in receiving and trading the stolen items.

The Command assured the public that anyone found culpable at the conclusion of investigations would be prosecuted in accordance with the law. It reaffirmed its commitment to protecting critical national assets and infrastructure while intensifying efforts to dismantle criminal networks engaged in the vandalization of public utilities.

The State Commandant commended both the NSCDC operatives and the Utagba Ogbe Vigilante Group for their successful collaboration, describing community partnership as a vital tool in combating crime and safeguarding public infrastructure.

He also urged residents of Delta State to remain vigilant and continue providing timely and credible intelligence to security agencies to support the fight against vandalism and other forms of economic sabotage.

The NSCDC Delta State Command reiterated that anyone involved in the vandalization, purchase, or sale of stolen critical national infrastructure would be identified, arrested, and made to face the full weight of the law.
